25 out of 43 Beds Bought so Far for Completed Guatemala Bed Project

14 February 2009 No Comment

Hi All,
I just received an email update and photos from Vickie Weidenmann of Children International regarding the completed Guatemala Bed Project. Read on and enjoy the happy faces of families who now have soft beds to sleep on instead of cold, dirt floors.  Thanks again to all of you who supported this worthy project. More updates and photos coming soon.

Vickie Writes:

Greetings, Friends!  I hope everyone is well.

We just received the attached photographs of some of the families in Guatemala when they received the gift of their new beds!  Thanks to the first transfer to Guatemala, the agency was able to purchase 25 new beds, with mattresses, for some of our most deserving and needy families.

As you can imagine, the kids – and the mothers – were thrilled with their new beds, and couldn’t wait to get them home.  Alejandra Jimenez, mother of Maria Alejandra, told our staff, “Without this support, we could not get this bed because our family’s income only covers our feeding.  My family is very grateful with the generous people who without knowing us is helping.  God bless them and multiply their properties!”

You’ll also see photos attached of the bed that was delivered to the home of Amelia Velasquez, the young lady featured on your website.  Amelia wasn’t at home when the bed was delivered, but I think the smiles on the faces of her siblings tell the story of just how pleased they are!

Thank you SO much for making this wonderful project happen.  The agency is working now on delivering the second set of beds – and as soon as I have additional news to report, I’ll pass it along.

Have a wonderful weekend – and thank you again for everything!
