Complete: Income Generation Project for Ana -Ecuador: $2770 Raised! Thank You.
This project is now complete. Launched Feb. 4, 2009. Completed Aug. 25, 2009.
Thank You!
Stay tuned for photos and updates. Our goal was to raise $2770 to buy a home workshop for Ana Belen Lema Gomez (11) and her family of Quito, Ecuador.
See gifts purchased for Ana with the first $2,100 raised from this project.
Take a look at Ana’s father’s workshop with his new sign.
Matching Challenge: Thanks to Aura’s House partner Mike Epler and his employer, Bank of America, all donations to this project were tripled up to the first $1500 raised! Special thanks also go to Megan Lustine for her generous $450 donation that finished this project off.
Our Goal:
Ana’s family consists of Monica (mother), Luis (father) and Ana’s three siblings, Adriana (7), Daniel Fernando (5) and Jennifer (13). Her mother works as a maid and her father is disabled and requires a wheelchair. The family earns $100 a month. Ana’s mother’s income supports the whole family since her father Luis cannot work away from home. However, Luis does have training as an electrician. He would like to set up a home workshop to fix small appliances. Children International predicts a 60% rise in their income if Luis is able to have a workshop. It would also greatly improve his self-esteem.
In order for Luis to start a workshop, he would need the following supplies:
Tools
A work desk
Gyratory chair
Advertising expense (creating a small sign)
Advanced electronics book (Needed so Luis can continue to learn & expand the business)

Below is an excerpt from Stephanie’s writings on her Aura’s House projects:
“My family has been sponsoring through Children International for a little over a year now. We sponsor seventeen children in five countries. It has been wonderful to build a personal relationship with all of our sponsor children and we always look forward to their letters and photographs…
…I know from experience that Income Generating Projects are extremely helpful to these families. In many cases their income will increase dramatically. It makes a huge difference in their daily welfare as well as their ability to save money and plan for the long term. It offers them hope for the future and the ability to work towards their goals. Sponsoring so many children, I am financially unable to fund every project by myself and that’s why I am so grateful to Aura’s House and to everyone who donates. Thank you so much!”
