Complete: Income Generation and Household Needs Project for Joselin -Guatemala: $577 Raised.
This project is now complete. Launched April 28, 2009. Completed October 16, 2009.
Income Generation and Household Needs Project for Joselin Paola Barillas Hilario (15) of Guatemala
Our goal was to raise $502
$502 Raised with an additional $75 Raised. Thank You.
See the gifts Joselin and her family received.

The last $127 needed to close out this project was donated in memory of Professor Terry Kirk from The American University of Rome who passed away unexpectedly. He will be sadly missed by the entire AUR community.
Our Goal:
The family’s home has electricity; however, it is not available throughout the entire house. The family’s home has only one electrical socket to provide electricity for all 4-rooms in the house. The family would like to install more electrical sockets for convenience and safety reasons. The cost to provide the family with the installation of additional electrical sockets is approximately $340.
Also, Joselin and her family are currently storing their clothing in a box. The CI staff feels that purchasing a cabinet for the family would be appropriate, so that they can properly store their clothing. The cost to provide the family with a cabinet is $95.
Joselin’s older sister, Sandra, recently gave birth to a healthy baby and the family has had to pay for extra expenses. Because of the added expenses, the family has been unable to buy raw materials and gas to continue with their income-generating project of making and selling tortillas. The cost to provide the family with gas and the ingredients needed to continue with their small business is $70.
Their Needs Are:
Installation of electricity
Gas
Corn flour
A clothes cabinet
Underwear
The total cost to provide Joselin and her family with their special needs is approximately $502.

The sponsor of Joselin is Greg E. of Fargo, North Dakota.
Greg writes:
“Joselin is a beautiful young woman who wishes to go to school to become a physician. She has a good heart and a strong desire to succeed. I have been her sponsor ever since she was a young girl. I hope that we can help her see her dream come true.
Her family is very supportive of her but her college education is beyond what our families can afford. Therefore, I have asked Children International to explore scholarship opportunities for her. I contacted the Guatemala office of CI quite some time ago about scholarship opportunities. I believe they are waiting until we are closer to when Joselin will need funding.”

Have you ever had to use only one electrical outlet for all your electrical needs? Can you imagine the danger of fire?
Please help Joselin and her family obtain additional outlets so they can sleep at night more securely.
I am, as her sponsor, asking Children International to add a battery powered smoke detector to her needs list. Greg, Joselin’s sponsor.
Hi Greg,
Thanks so much for supporting Joselin. We at Aura’s House made a $15 donation on behalf of Greg Jone’s mother who recently passed away. Greg is one of the staff at Children International who helps us so much with our projects. The donation will show up on Friday’s spreadsheet.
Best,
Kristen
