Ana Gomez of Ecuador – Workshop Complete and Thriving

21 February 2010 No Comment

Vickie Wiedenmann of Children International has just sent an update on Ana’s Income Generating Project .   She writes:

Dear friends,

The agency in Quito has advised us that Ana’a project is now complete and she and her family are delighted and thrilled with the new opportunities you and your donors have given them!

All in all, the entire workshop was renovated; a new bathroom was constructed and a storefront sign was placed on their home.   Ana and her father received desks, tables, chairs, shelving units, supplies and tools for the workshop.  Mr. Lema also received some books relating to electronics, and received some personalized training at his home.  Some of the funds were also used to help provide Mr. Lema with an orthopedic mattress to help lesson the back pain he suffers from.

The agency told us that despite his health condition and the pain in which he lives, Mr. Lema has not stopped working and has even fixed some of the electronics from his bed.  His wife and children and their friends have been incredibly supportive of his situation and provides tremendous encouragement in his new business. So far, Mr. Lema maintains a steady flow of electronic items to repair and he is now earning about $150 a month!

The staff also told us that Ana has learned quite a lot from this special project.   She has been at her father’s side since the workshop opened, and has even learned how to fix some of the gadgets herself!

Thank you all so much for the gift you have given this family.   I know their lives are changed dramatically because of your caring support!

Thanks again!
