Maria is the sponsor child of Sarah O. from British Columbia, Canada.
Sarah writes:
“I began sponsoring Maria a year ago, although it feels like it’s been longer. Perhaps, this is because she writes so often. Her letters show that she’s smart and sweet. She is always thanking me for thinking of her.
Maria lives with her aunt, Brigida, her older cousin, and her two younger siblings. When I asked if Brigida would be interested in starting an Income Generating Project, I learned that she is unable to work because her days are filled with taking care of and tutoring the children. Her son’s job and the support of other family members brings in a monthly income of about $180. This is enough to cover the family’s bare necessities, but is not enough to provide them with some of the most basic furniture a family should have. Through this fundraiser, I am hoping to provide Maria and her family with a bed, a chest of drawers, a blender, a table, and four chairs. In a way, I’m most looking forward to providing the family with a table; somewhere comfortable not only to eat, but to study as well. Even such simple objects could have a great effect on this family’s quality of life.
Thank you for helping improve the lives of Maria and her family!”
