Media, Art, and Social Activism Course Blog now Up

1 February 2011 2 Comments

Hi All,

My new course that I am teaching, COM408 Media, Art, and Social Activism at The American University of Rome is now up and running. Check out our new blog here. Both myself and the students will be blogging daily/weekly.

This hybrid course, blending aesthetics and civics, will focus on media and art that have been created expressly for communicating and/or promoting positive social change; it will also provide a forum within which to consider how to engage in a global community.

Special thanks to Professor Gina Guerrieri for all her help in creating this course, which is modeled after her Media That Matters course at William Paterson University

    Thanks Ana,

Todays topic was “Images that Changed the World.” The students made lists of the most famous/iconic photos they could think of and we then checked to see if they predicted the photos that were in my web lists. They seem to be a great group with lots to say.

This class is the most work for me this semester because it’s being created from scratch, but it may just be my most enjoyable.
