E-Interview With Aura’s House Web-Maven, Christina Sidoti
Aura’s House Partner, Christina Sidoti was kind enough to take a few minutes out of her busy life to answer some questions for us. Thanks Christina!
1. Please tell us where you are from, where you live, and what you do on a typical day at this moment in your life.
I was raised in New Jersey and still reside there. On a typical day, I go for a run, head to work at Method Studios in NYC, and animate for commercials and film. After work and when possible, I have dinner with friends and do either homework or attend class for Animation Mentor, an online animation school. Sometimes, I sleep.
2. Why do you think you are drawn to trying to help people you have never met before?
I believe life is about love. You should give it as well as receive it. Helping people is sharing love and positivity.
3. How and when did you become involved with Aura’s House? What has been your most gratifying moment working with Aura’s House?
In 2005, I took a class with Professor Kristen Palana at William Paterson University. Kristen had just started Aura’s House one year earlier and asked me to help maintain the Aura’s House website. It is seven years later and I still thoroughly enjoy being a partner at Aura’s House. I think of it as a blessing that I have the opportunity to help people by maintaining a website. It is amazing how technology can touch impoverished areas and help people so far away.
I find education projects most gratifying. One sponsor child, Christian Capin of Manila, had a school project and then later an income generating project. The school project yielded a new classroom so that the students would not have to be in a cramped environment that made learning difficult. In the photos of the completed school, Christian is smiling from ear to ear. He was the hero to all of his classmates. Because of Aura’s House donations, so many children will have a better education and a better life.
4. What other interests do you have and/or what other causes do you care about?
I love animation. My job is fun! I enjoy studying it when I am not working because I get to be an actor as well as a simulator of physics.
5. What would you like to say to the Aura’s House Community?
Thank you! The donors, the other site partners, and the site helpers are some of the most amazing people in which I have ever had the pleasure of interacting. The site has sent over $85,000 to the aid of children in need. I am so proud of all of the people who want to help others.
