*Everyone who donated at least $10 to this project between Nov. 20, 2012 and January 7, 2013 was automatically entered in our Holiday Raffle.

The office of Children International at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock required help to purchase consumable dental supplies for preventative appointments to benefit 400 needy children in its 2013 fiscal year. We aimed to raise $6,000 for prophylaxis angles, prophylaxis brushes, prophylaxis paste, distilled water or tablets, x-ray film, flouride/flouride varnish, toothbrushes, floss, toothpaste, bags and Lysol/cleaning supplies. All projects on the Aura’s House site are 100% US tax deductible.

Providing dental services isn’t just about keeping children’s teeth and gums clean; it’s crucial to proper nutrition, overall health and good self-esteem. Regular dental screenings and appropriate follow-up care provides a key, often overlooked health benefit for many sponsored children.

Special thanks to: Aura’s House partner, Mike Epler, who completed this ambitious project with a generous donation matched by his employer, Bank of America. He also ran an international 250K, Seven Day Endurance Race in the Gobi Desert (China) through Racing the Planet as a fundraiser for this project on June 10, 2012. Mike also DOUBLED all donations to this project up to the first $1000 raised and his employer, Bank of America did a company match as well.

Our goal was to raise $6,000.

Thank you for your donations to date. After the success of my Gobi March Stage Race I was looking for my next trail running adventure and I have found it. I am attempting my first 100mile Ultra-Marathon, Cajun Coyote, on December 1st.

Just as your first dental visit can be scary, this mileage for me is an unknown that leaves some apprehension lingering…so to put an additional purpose to my goal I am putting up a matching challenge where I will match each single donation over $100 for the first $500 raised and then enter this for Bank of America Matching, so your $100 donation will actually generate $300 for this project!! For those donors I will email you a link to my run so you can follow me live as I circumnavigate the lake for 5 loops of 20 miles each at Chicot State Park, Ville Platte, Louisiana.

So besides the armadillos watching me run through the swamps and root filled forest trails I’m hoping to have some folks look in on me virtually, just know you are out there will make those last 20 miles easier….
