Andrea Carolina Pabon Florez and her family live in a one room dwelling and struggle to survive on $134 USD a month. The family has two beds that are used for six people and are in very poor condition. We aimed to raise $605 to purchase this deserving family new bunk beds and bedding as well as a wardrobe that will help give the family a safe and clean place to store their clothing.   All projects on the Aura’s House site are 100% US tax deductible and 100% of donations go to the families being helped.  Andrea’s sponsor via Children International is Shana Brown. She writes:

“Andrea Carolina is a sweet little seven year old who lives in Santa Marta, Colombia, with her parents, older brother, younger sister, and little brother.

Andrea likes to sing and she wants to be a model when she grows up. The family struggles to survive on $134 US dollars a month. The father sells vegetables on the street and Andrea’s mom is a homemaker.

When I visited the family in July 2013, I was able to see that the family lives in a one room house and that Andrea’s parents and two brothers share a double bed. Andrea and her sister, Elizabeth, share a single bed which is in very poor condition.

The family would like to have a new bunk bed for the girls, new mattresses, new sheets, and a small wardrobe to keep the children‘s clothes in. I am hoping that this fundraiser will be a success so that the girls can sleep in comfortable beds and have a place to keep their clothes. The breakdown for the project is as follows:

1 wooden bunk bed    $245
2 single mattresses    $163
2 sets of bed sheets    $ 53
1 wardrobe                   $136
Transportation            $  8

Total                            $605

If you are able to help me out with this fundraiser, the family will be so appreciative. This is a very sweet family that needs a helping hand to help make their lives a little better. Thank you and God bless!”

I love the Aura’s House group because we can join together to help the really poor around the world by targeting individuals and micro-projects. Those of us in wealthier countries are so blessed in living comfortable lives where we have the resources to assist other families in poorer regions. Thank you Kristen and the Team at Aura’s House for organizing this effort!

Hello…I just donated for the bunk beds and there was nowhere to make a comment that if I win the drawing I’d like to just have the money applied towards the bunk beds! It will do more good that way. 🙂
