Aura’s House is proud to be hosting another tuition project for Yacn Biggo who plans to use his law education for the betterment of Tanzanian society. Yacn has already successfully completed his fourth semester at The University of Dar Es Salaam for a BACHELOR OF LAW (LL.B) degree.  Aura’s House is attempting to raise funds for Yacn’s third year at The University of Dar Es Salaam.

When Aura’s House Partner, Heather LaBonte, asked Yacn why he wanted to study law, he replied “‘To become a successful lawyer who can help poor Tanzanian woman and children who are a vulnerable group and isolated in our society. Most of the time they are denied their rights, for example the right to own property, inheritance, marital issues, right to work, and their liberty. I choose to study law because it’s easy to help people by knowing law especially vulnerable groups.”

From April 22 until May 12, 2015 The COM408 Media, Art, and Social Activism class at The American University of Rome will be raising funds for Yasini’s education via our mirror project at Indiegogo.com. Aura’s House founder, Kristen Palana has been teaching the class how to plan, create, and manage crowdfunding projects as part of their semester coursework. Students in the course proposed and then voted to make Yasini the recipient of any funds raised this semester. Read more about the class project.

Yacn writes:

“Dear Donors,

I successfully completed my fourth Semester at university. Without your help I couldn’t be here today. Maybe without your help I could changed my dream and become a farmer in my village or doing other activity in my local area and leave my long dream of becoming a lawyer and helping my family and society.Your generosity will help to create a better world.

I’m hoping my fifth semester will be successful and great at University of Dar Es Salaam as the last one with your help. I can’t wait completing my fifth Semester of University and coming closer to my third year. Again, thank you very much for everything you have done to me so far. I’ll forever be grateful.

Best Regards,

Yasini Biggo”
