An Update on Updates

Hi All,
Happy 2010. My apologies that we haven’t been able to update project totals for donations made after December 29, 2009 so far this January. Our contact that normally sends us the weekly spreadsheet was away from the office at Children International and then was out sick. Luckily he is doing much better now and will be sending the latest spreadsheet on Friday, January 29, 2010. We look forward to updating the site and seeing where we stand after the generous end of year donations. We also plan to update …

Help Victims of the Devastating Earthquake in Haiti

Dear Aura’s House Supporters,
By now you have heard of the unimaginable disaster unfolding in Haiti’s capital and surrounding area. The single most important thing individuals who want to help can do is make a donation to a large organization that is coordinating efforts to rescue people, feed people, shelter people, and treat the injured.
Please consider donating to The UN’s World Food Programme, The Clinton Foundation, or The American Red Cross.

Thank You!
Sincerely,
The Team at Aura’s House

Happy 5th Birthday Aura’s House! Happy 16th Birthday Aura Hernandez!

Happy Birthday Aura’s House!
Unbelievable. Aura’s House, the online project, is five years old on June 30, 2009.  It was first launched on this day back in 2004 as a humble web page with one simple (but daunting) goal: to raise $4500 to build a safe, sturdy brick home for my sponsored child Aura Yesenia Solis Hernandez (age 10 at the time) and her family of Guatemala. See Aura’s family’s NEW HOME!
See their old house.

Random Michael Jackson Related Post

This came out when I was about 12 years old and had a big impact on me. Though I love a lot of Michael Jackson’s music, “Man in the Mirror” always spoke to me the most. R.I.P Michael.

New Photos of Ana (11) in Ecuador

Ana’s sponsor, Stephanie W. has posted some lovely new photos she has received through Children International.
Stephanie is the main fundraiser for our Income Generation Project for Ana and Family of Ecuador. We’ve raised over $1500 so far and are more than halfway to our goal of $2770. Once we finish her project, we’ll be able to purchase equipment and supplies so her disabled father can start an electrical repair shop that will help the family pay for food, medical costs, clothing, and education.
Check out more photos of Ana at …

Help Italian Earthquake Vicitms

Hi All,
Some of you already know that since 2006, I’ve been living in Italy teaching Digital Media at The American University of Rome. On early Monday morning (3:30AM) my husband and I awoke to our bedroom violently shaking. Luckily in Rome, we didn’t feel the full brunt of the earthquake that killed hundreds and left tens of thousands homeless in the nearby Abruzzo region.

We’re still feeling a few small aftershocks here and are wondering what we can do to help those who had the bad luck of living close to …
