An Update on Updates

Hi All,
Happy 2010. My apologies that we haven’t been able to update project totals for donations made after December 29, 2009 so far this January. Our contact that normally sends us the weekly spreadsheet was away from the office at Children International and then was out sick. Even though Diego’s project is still active,  his gifts are being purchased ahead of time as donations are gathered.  Diego thanks you all for his new bed, mattress, pillow, sheets and electric fan.
The new bed and linens, as well as the fan, will help to keep him very comfortable and preserve his health. He and his family are very grateful to Aura’s House donors for their generosity.
Children International’s Vickie Wiedenmann sends her appreciation and sincerely thanks Aura’s House donors for helping this young boy.

This is an update on a project started last year for Aura Hernandez (16) of Guatemala. Last year, we raised $1200 to help her continue her education beyond grade 9 (which is as far as kids can go in her village) so that she may obtain a three year teaching certificate that will allow her …

Diego of Colombia Receives Nutrition Supplements and School Fees

Diego of Colombia has such urgent health needs, we decided to ask Children International if some of the money raised so far by generous Aura’s House donors could be given to him in advance. Luckily this was not a problem and he received some of the most needed items from our ongoing Emergency Project for Diego of Colombia. Please consider making a small gift towards our goal.

Children International transferred $445 to their agency in Cartagena to provide Diego with an immediate supply of PediaSure to help him with his …

Here’s the latest update about Aura Hernandez, this site’s namesake. Thanks to Aura’s House donations last December, she is able to attend a high school in Guatemala City (her village school only goes up to 8th grade) and is working on earning a teaching certificate so she can fulfill her dream of being an elementary school teacher in her community.

Children International visited Aura at her new school and she is progressing wonderfully. Below is a status report from Children International’s Vickie Wiedenmann.
