This site aimed to raise $1850 to build a safe, modern water well for eleven year old Rituparna Mandal and her village of Khordanahala, India. More details .

Children International had selected this village as one most in need of a safe well, since the distant tubewell they currently use is often broken, forcing villagers to drink, cook, and bathe with contaminated water from a nearby pond. See Photos.

This website was founded by Kristen Palana, Aura Hernandez's sponsor through the top rated charity, Children International.

Anastasia Yecke of Miami, Florida is a partner at the site and was a main collaborator and fundraiser on the Honduras Project and a repeat donor from the Guatemala Project.

$1850 Raised! We DID IT! Thank you. Well Progress Indicator

This virtual water well built up brick by brick to reflect how close we were to $1850. A new brick was added with every $20 donated. Now that we've met our goal, construction on the real well in Khordanahala, India is complete as of February 2006.

Most of the people in this village are daily laborers and their monthly incomes vary in range from $25-35. The preliminary cost of a new well (which must be placed at a depth of 1000 feet), along with a concrete platform surrounding the well, is $1,752.

Because Paypal charges a fee for their secure service, we have rounded the number up to $1850. More details about this. 100% of proceeds go to Children International who will oversee the well construction after we reach our goal.
