Aura's House

Philippines Schoolhouse Project

October 2006: Philippines School progress

The construction of the new classroom in Sto. Nino Elementary School continues. The agency reported that the construction is over 75% complete.

The first three photos are of a ceremony similar to a groundbreaking event where a concrete block is being raised for the new room. Some of the teachers and school students were in attendance as well.

The other photographs show the official signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Manila Agency and the school, which detailed the roles of each institution in the construction and the upkeep of the classroom. Christian Capin was one of the witnesses of the signing -- and he is very proud!

One can see that the interior of the classroom is nearing completion. The floor has been cemented roughly yet, "smoothening" the walls and the floor will come next.  Bing Laurena (in colorful stiped shirt) , and Arch. Ariel ( in  white shirt with black stripes on the bodice) monitor the project regularly to ensure that construction is done according to the plan and contract.

The "smoothening"/ finishing of the walls are being started already during the first week of Sept.. Metal trusses have been completely installed.  Next will be the installation of the corrugated metal sheets/roofing.

July 2006: Photos of the children as they found out the good news.

Children International officials brought printouts of the Aura's House website along when they came to the school to tell the kids the good news. Here Christian Capin, the child we featured for this project, points to a picture of himself.

The kids give a unanimous 'thumbs up!' to the news of the soon-to-be constructed classroom.

School officials discuss the plans to build the new classroom.

The schoolchildren of Sto. Nino thank Aura's House and all our donors!
