Our new Small Projects Section features projects that cost $500 or under. Together with interested Children International sponsors, we aim to raise funds for things like beds, tables, chairs, supplies, and more for needy families around the world. If you have an idea for a future small project, please email Kristen at kpalana@aurashouse.com

Our first Small Project was to buy furniture for Levy(6) and her family in Manila, the Philippines. Visit Small Project #1

Cindy Furniture Project launched March 2, 2006:
WE DID IT! Special thanks to Anastasia Yecke for doing a matching funds challenge. See photos of what the family received.

Cindy Villamor (12) and her family of nine from Legaspi City, Philippines live in a small, one-room shack. The family owned no beds and had to sleep together on their concrete floor. Our goal was to raise $500 to buy Cindy and her family beds and other furnishings and supplies. See more photos of Cindy's home. Please note, this project is complete. Small Project #3: Meet Cindy Villamor (12)
of Legaspi City, Philippines.

Cindy's sponsor is Kate Rarick of Tennessee.

Kate writes:

"
Cindy Villamor is a 12 year old girl who lives in Legaspi City, Philippines with her mother and father and 6 siblings. She is a very sweet and hardworking young lady who always writes to tell me that she is studying hard in school because she one day wants to become a teacher!

It breaks my heart to know that a young girl as lovely as Cindy has to endure the hardships of poverty, and I want to do anything I can to ease the burden of these hardships, helping Cindy and her family to be happy and successful and achieve their dreams.

When I received a report from Children International detailing the living conditions of Cindy and her family, I was disheartened to learn that the family relies on the shockingly low income of Cindy's father, a painter who earns less than a dollar a day.

What really stood out to me, however, was the fact that this family of nine owned no beds, but instead spent their nights sleeping on the concrete floor.

If I could, I would buy Cindy all the comforts of life that we often take for granted, or at the very least, I would buy her a bed to call her own, but as a high school student, my
financial resources are limited.

I am thrilled to be able to work with Aura's House to appeal for help to improve the lives of Cindy and her family.
