Congratulations are in order for Aura’s House Partner, Mike Epler who recently completed one of the world’s most grueling endurance races! The Gobi March (China) is part of the 4 Deserts series (RacingThePlanet) which was again named by TIME magazine as the #1 footrace in the world, and as one of the world’s top 10 endurance events.
Mike chose to use the race as a means for raising funds for over 400 needy children in Little Rock, Arkansas so that they may receive free preventive dental healthcare exams. Visit our USA …
In 1994, Children International and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR) established a partnership to nurture and provide educational enrichment, health and dental care, family assistance, and special gifts for children and youth attending the Little Rock Public Schools.
Children International works in partnerships with 16 UALR departments and 22 public and private agencies. In 2000, UALR CI launched the Dental Health Action Team and joined others around the state and nation to provide services for children without access to adequate dental care. The 22 organizations that comprise the Dental Health Action Team established the comprehensive Future Smiles Dental Program. With outstanding partners and committed volunteers, this group continues to provide dental services to children with the greatest need.

Aura’s House would like to thank our Spring 2011 intern, Refat Ara Jerin for all of her hard work over the past few months. Refat, a Junior Film and Digital Media major at The American University of Rome originally comes from Bangladesh. This past semester she contributed multiple blog posts, created web banners, threw a successful bake sale that helped finish off our recently completed India Tuition Project, and most recently created this lovely and creative animated introduction for the Aura’s House site:

The bake sale at The American University of Rome on the 3rd of May, 2011 for the The India Tuition Project was a great success. It wouldn’t have been possible without Professor Palana and Professor Zinder’s biggest contributions in buying our food. This project is now complete. Launched: November 27, 2009. Completed: May 3, 2011.
We aimed to raise $2450 to pay tuition fees for 100 children in Kolkata, India. That’s $24.50 per child.
