Ready, Set, Go Mike Go! (For Education in The Dominican Republic.)

It’s time to go!

Mike Epler, Aura’s House Partner since 2005, has been training for the 273KM 7 day Grand to Grand Stage Race for the last couple of months with a strong determination and a great cause. Focused on giving the chance to 15 high-achieving Dominican students to study English, Mike made a decision to match each $1.00 donated with a $1.00 from his own funds until September 28th. (This is his second $500 match. Donations will be doubled until we reach $2350.)

Our overall goal is to raise $3,000 to enroll 15 Dominican students in an English as a Second Language Program through Children International.

Andrea (right) and her family live in a one room dwelling and struggle to survive on $134 USD a month. The family has two beds that are used for six people and are in very poor condition.

We aim to raise $605 to purchase new bunk beds and bedding as well as a wardrobe that will help give the family a safe and clean place to store their clothing.

All projects on the Aura’s House site are 100% US tax deductible and 100% of donations go to the families being helped.

Complete: Tuition Project for Stephanie Gomez (17) – Guatemala. $1,089 Raised. Thank You!

Stephanie is a very studious girl and is determined to succeed academically and get her family out of poverty. Her family consists of a single mother and three other siblings who live on $104 a month.

Stephanie is very interested in continuing to study and looking for a job at the same time to help her family with the most basic needs. Stephanie is finishing her Professional Secretary courses, which would hopefully help her secure employment while she is studying to be a Nurse.

A Nursing course has a flexible schedule, which would allow Stephanie to work and and study at the same time. Upon completion of the course she would be able to work as a nurse in a private or a public hospital. We aim to raise $1000 in tuition for twelve months of study in a Nursing program.
