Active: Aura’s Elementary School Water Project – Guatemala: $1020 Raised so Far. -Only $500 Left to Raise!

All donations (past, present, and future) to this particular project of $15 or more will get the donor an entry into our raffle. (Example: $15= one entry, $30=two entries, etc…) The raffle will end once this project is complete and winners will be chosen at random roughly 1-2 weeks after the project is completed. First prize is a $100 Amazon gift card or donation to the charity or project of your choice. Second prize is the same, but $50.

The village of this website’s namesake, Aura Yesenia Solis Hernandez has a local elementary school in need of a potable water supply. They have no running water, which makes it very difficult for the children to remain in class all morning. The teachers have to ask their students to bring water from home in order to use the bathroom and wash their hands.

The school needs a plumbing system to be built and safe water storage. The approximate cost of the running water project is $1,000 and would take approximately two months to complete. The school also is in dire need of books and learning materials, especially for the kindergarten and first grade. We aim to raise $1,520 for a plumbing system and learning materials such as crayons, paper, books, and coloring books. All projects on the Aura’s House site are 100% US tax deductible and 100% of donations go to our projects and the communities served.

Complete: Room Construction Project for Eber Danilo (8) of Guatemala: $1,529 Raised! Thank you!

Those who donated at least $10 to this project were automatically entered in our Holiday Raffle.
Eber Danilo (8) lives in Guatemala in a one room home with his parents and two siblings. The family’s home has a concrete floor and a corrugated metal roof. This small space only fits two beds for five people. Eber’s mother is a homemaker and his father is a butcher making their total family income $234 a month.

Children International has communicated that the best way to improve the quality of life for Eber and his family would be to build an extra room where the children could sleep and do homework. Eber’s sponsor, Julia, and Aura’s House would like to construct this extra space with help from donors like you. We aimed to raise $1500 for wood, nails, labor, and roofing.

The time I spent there was difficult. We had no electricity or indoor plumbing. We heated water to wash with by painting water bottles black and leaving them in the sun. Some of us were lucky enough to have a roof to sleep under while the rest camped …
